Intro to Dance

Makenzie Denning

Makenzie was born under the midnight sun in Alaska. She was barely 3 years old when a ballet performance of Cinderella captured her heart. She began taking ballet lessons in Florida within that year and has been dancing ever since. She is trained in ballet, pointe, jazz, and contemporary, and has shared her love of dance through performances with Gulf Coast Dance Theater. Through the years she has attended ballet summer intensives with North Star Ballet, Fairbanks Arts Festival, and Gulf Coast Dancenter. She will be attending Texas Ballet Theater intensive this summer. Makenzie has danced many different roles in Gulf Coast Dance Theater’s performances including Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Galas and Clara’s New York City Christmas. Highlights have been solo roles as DewDrop, Alice, Clara, and Sugar Plum Fairy. Teaching has been a natural transition for her career. She teaches pre-ballet, jazz 3 and contemporary 3 after being an assistant teacher for five years with Gulf Coast Dancenter. Her passion and language is dance. She yearns to share the joy of dancing with many whether that is through performing or teaching.
